Para Athletics

Para athletics is a form of athletics for athletes with physical, intellectual, or vision impairments. It includes running, wheeling, throwing, and jumping, with some events using specialized equipment like racing chairs and running frames. Athletes are classified according to their activity limitation resulting from their disability. The rules of Paralympic track and field are almost identical to those of its Olympic counterparts with some allowances to accommodate certain impairments (for example, visually impaired runners may compete with guide runners).

Athletics Ontario is the recognized governing body for the sport of Para Athletics in Ontario, in partnership with the Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association (OCPSA), the Ontario Para Network (ONPARA), and the Ontario Blind Sports Association (OBSA).
